I can vote!

My most memorable day last week was when I found out that I can finally vote! I'm so glad that I've been moved from Marine Parade GRC to Aljunied, otherwise it would have been another walkover for me :)
I've been wondering why I'm feeling so excited about this elections. It's a little sad that in quiet little Singapore, the simple idea of being allowed to vote is so rare and precious that it is actually quite exciting, regardless of who is in the running. The thought of being able to step into a polling station and make that choice is actually quite empowering. Maybe that's why democracy is so appealing. But will I actually be willing to die for the right to make that vote (like the students at Tiananmen)? Probably not. Sad but true, though I haven't quite figured out the reason why I'm so apathetic.
Anyway, that's just my ramblings about the GE, may add more when I'm more lucid. Anyone's been to a rally yet? Have been looking forward to going but haven't been able to so far :(

Here's some websites to guide you along for the GE. More in my lecture on politics in s'pore:

cool artwork

We've been talking about the arts in lecture and how it stretches the imagination, surprises the audiences and experiments with new and different techniques. The artwork below are all painted on flat ground yet they are look so real...it's pretty amazing!

Are we the ones being rescued?
Why the coke bottle?
Who is the real guy?
'Make Poverty History'...Why the globe?

Batman & Robin to the rescue

Reflection of today's society?

Do these artwork have any message though? Are they just a means of self-expression or a form of identity? Can you identify with the art? You might want to check out on the organisation 'Make poverty history' (see the pic with the globe)

it's a start...

Ah...my first attempt at setting up a blog for all you GP kiddos. There's a certain sense of satisfaction though I'm not sure how often you all will visit this. But being the super hardworking people you all are, I probably won't be disappointed?!

I'll be using this blog to put up the News of the Week articles so that you can still access them after they are taken down from Litespeed. There'll also be study notes for various topics and practice papers nearer to the exams.

Since there'll be students from different classes accessing this, do comment on the articles put up and share/learn from one another through this blog.

Enjoy!
