Holiday Homework...Yayy...

I'm sure this is what you've all been waiting for :) Ok, shall not be sarcastic...but just a gentle reminder that you need to continue practising GP during the hols.

There are 2 sets of homework. The first is the one that you see on Litespeed - compre papers which are given to all GP students. I'm putting them up here again in case you can't access Litespeed. The 2nd is a special something from me to you :)....It's to ensure that you keep reading over the hols

1. Comprehension Papers (Litespeed)
Deadline for submission: 3 January 2007, 2 pm (must do all 4)

Week beginning 13 Nov - AQ(teenagers) Insert AQ(teenagers)

Week beginning 20 Nov - TJ Insert TJ Answer Booklet

Week beginning 4 Dec - MI Insert MI Answer Booklet

Week beginning 11 Dec - RJ Insert RJ Answer Booklet

2. Newspaper Reading (choose A or B or a mixture of both)
Deadline for submission: First tutorial period in 2007

Option A
Instructions:
1) Read the Review and/or Insight sections of the Straits Times (after the World section). (Note: 'Review' can be found in the newspapers every day while 'Insight' is only found in Friday's papers)
2) Choose 1 article and write a summary of what you have read (in point form)
3) Write a short paragraph stating the reasons why you agree/disagree with the writer
4) Write down the meanings of 5 new words in the article

Option B (this is for those who like to read about issues from a perspective other than the Straits Times')
Instructions:
1) Read the 'Opinion' (http://www.nytimes.com/pages/opinion/index.html) section of The New York Times or the 'Special Reports' (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/in_depth/default.stm) or 'Analysis' section of BBC news website (http://news.bbc.co.uk/)
2) Choose 1 article and write a summary of what you have read (in point form)
3) Write a short paragraph stating the reasons why you agree/disagree with the writer
4) Write down the meanings of 5 new words in the article

For both options, you should attach the article to your answers. You should hand in at least 4 articles (i.e. 1 per week) when school reopens. You can choose to read a few articles from The Straits Times and other articles from the foreign papers.
